We Die In Dreams

We Die In Dreams

A Poem by Su' Nacnetaf

Once, years ago, I fell asleep
and I couldn't wake up again
trapped in a dream so deep
in a world I could call heaven
and I had no grasp at all
of what back then was unreal
I sank, perhaps I wanted to fall
I wished this dream was real
but even in dreams things go wrong
your world can shatter
as an old man growing young
and life will cease to matter.

Once, many years ago, I fell asleep
wanting desperately to wake up again
an old man waiting to end his trip
and to come back to his beloved friends
but even as I oponed my eyes
I wasn't back truly, I couldn't feel
the whole world seemed filled with lies
once we die in dreams...

we die for real.

This is a wonderful piece that I can relate too from the beginning to the very end. Myself being a lover of the subconscious mind, both the good and the bad. Your last line 'we die for real' really drills this in, making your audience think for I believe many have been concerned with the truth behind those words. Do we truly die? I loved this. Thank you for sharing!

The messages of the words are strong. Words many should read and think upon. Refine the words. This has power.
