Looking for Food

Looking for Food

A Poem by Su' Nacnetaf

The giants are now gone
the fake sun left with them
this is the time to go on
lest we'd be condemned
for we seek just one thing
scavanged resources to survive
whatever fate may bring
as long as it keeps us alive.

The fake sun returned suddenly
I see the greater giant approaching
she hasn't spotted us, luckily.

After getting numerous things from behind the great white wall
she went directly to the fire plateau
where she stood all mighty, uncaring and tall.

The field is dangerous
but the reward is worth the risk
if you feel rather adventurous.

It happened, it happened at last
the giant let slip a hunk to the ground
we run, mindlessly, we move fast
not even caring if we make a sound
a hunk of such size will feed us for a week
it's something we cannot miss
it doesn't matter if chances are bleak
for such prize will bring us undeniable bliss.

The giant saw us now
I can only stare in horrid awe
we need to escape, but how?
we'd be damned if we don't withdraw.

A massacre followed
most of my colleagues dead
oh queen to whom I wallow
forgive your servant...
because I fled.
