Star Light

Star Light

A Poem by ArtisticVisions
"

when the stars are too far to reach, touch the sky

"
I've heard it told a thousand times,
the stars are too far to reach
when I can't even touch the sky.
Keep your feet on the ground
those lights will all one day die
All these voices in my mind
until I'm six feet down, underground
searching for the fading lights.

A dozen years of sleepless nights
fighting doubts, cannot hide
tired of constantly trying to find
where I belong, gathering forgotten light.
Too late to fix time, turn back-
wishing I'd done this in the past
scared of mistakes, scared of fear,
scared of finding another broken path.

star light,
in fragments of abandoned dreams
The smallest light shines bright
in the darkest of empty nights
Piecing together a faded wish
reaching out to touch the sky.

Whelp... this has more rhyming than most of my poetry, and I know it doesn't fit a rhyme scheme. (advice?) Thanks for reading! :)
