Stop Pulling My Strings

Stop Pulling My Strings

A Poem by Charlotte
"

Generally, it's about people being controlled by others and are none the wiser to it.

"

Box me up.

Save me for a rainy day.

Teach me how to fake a smile.

And buy a collar so I’ll never stray.

Say bye once more.

You’re so sure I’ll abide.

And that’s exactly what I do.

I stay loyally, metaphorically by your side.

I found one flaw in your plan.

I’m not a dog and you’re most certainly not a man.

I’m just the puppet.

You’re pulling the strings.

I figured I had enough of you.

If only I were a bird and already had wings.

But I was only a girl.

I had to try it by myself.

So I packed up my things.

And left my collar on the shelf.

I found another flaw in your plan.

I discovered my mind and that’s when my life began.
