A Poem by West of Everyone

I run to You
Falling at Your feet
Grasping You
Never letting go

Your servants
Strike me with sticks
Yelling obscenities at me
Telling me to let go

You rebuke them
Asking them
Why I a lowly tippler
Should have more faith

Kneeling down
You lift me from my sin
From my fallen brokenness
The only world I knew

Standing me upon my feet
You stare hard
Into my eyes and say
"Come"

Letting go you back away
Again calling "Come"
Wavering upon my wobbly legs
I stagger forward

I begin to topple
But You are there
Holding me steady
Helping my step

Walking by your side
You guide me
Comforting my soul
Through our communion

We walk through
The darkness
Shinning Your light
Searching for my family

Aiding those we find
Rejoicing through it all
Grasping onto each others' hands
We follow to the end

You turn to me
Your smile wide
Opening your arms
Embracing each of us

You show us the way
To your house
Which only you know the way
Where we may live forever
