Her Eyes

Her Eyes

Shimmering, shining in the light
Reflected from the snow
Illuminated the eyes
The eyes that pierced my soul

Entrancingly they hypnotized me
Holding my eyes to focus on them
Deeper ever deeper I was drawn
My mind fading into the distance

Everything else was slowly disappearing
Nothing mattered outside of those eyes
Only the warmth with which they greeted me
Only the truth with which they spoke

I found a universe inside
Worlds beyond this, formed
Worlds of joy shone through
Taking away my brokenness

Their warm embrace held me
Comforted my soul
Lifted me up to soar
With the bird up in the cloudless sky

Cords of sky blue pointed
Through the ice blue depths
To the abyss of black
To the soul of the one to which they belong

Those eyes so deep
So understanding
Lifted the sorrows off my shoulders
They are the eyes of a friend
