Invisible

Invisible

My handsomeness is lost
Behind the hideousness of myself
I long for people to see
But they do not

I pretend not to care
While inside my heart breaks
Into thousands of pieces
Ugly, jagged pieces

I walk silently
Unnoticed by those I pass
My head sinking lower
With every passing day

I look into your eyes
Only to have them look away
My eyes fall to the ground
Finally understanding

And so it goes
Wanting, needing
Never receiving
I understand
