My Depression

My Depression

Once I loved
But no one knew
I showed it in many ways
But was ignored
Left to my own devices to survive
I wanted only one thing that was easy to give

I wander through the desert
Stumbling and falling
Upon the sharp rocks of loneliness
I recover my love and return
To find nothing
Nothing but ashes

Your love meant everything to me
That is why I gave you all of mine
So that I might have received a fraction
But for me there was none
And so I turn and walk away
Once again leaving

I am a shell
Once full of life and useful
Protecting and comforting
Now I am empty
Cast upon the shore
Abandoned, useless

I try once again
I give my all
And once again...
Once more I turn and walk away
This time I won't return
For I am spent
