GrandeurA Poem by West of EveryoneWritten in 2003
The deep wooded glades beckon me in A deep breath and I bound through the brush Finding my way through As if on some ancient trail That is now grown over with gnarled maples And enormous firs towering above Everything is at peace here The sparrows and finches chirping in the branches above There is a gurgling coming from a spring in the distance Wildflowers plentifully growing Where the sunlight breaks through the greenery of the trees A small herd of deer keeps a watchful eye Seeming only to be wary of my presence I continue on making my way up a small ridge At the to the canopy opens up To reveal the majesty of a mighty snow-capped mount As I gaze o’er the green valleys And the rugged mountaintops An eagle soars into view Right then and there I fall to my knees Praising God for the beauty of His mighty works © 2010 West of Everyone |
