Erin (Part 1 of This World)A Poem by West of EveryoneWritten in 2002
I’m here Walking among the people Yet I am all alone In this cold dark world Out of the darkness a faint light Shows upon my dreary face The closer I get The brighter the light gets Blinding my dilated eyes Stepping fully into the light Feeling your warmth upon my cold skin I gaze upon your face And weep at the sight of your beauty Trembling I start to approach you My paralyzed tongue handicaps my words With my inability to speak You turn and begin to walk away I reach for you And catch nothing but air inside my hand I step, with my unsteady legs and fall to the ground, weeping As you walk away the light and warmth fades Leaving me cold, and alone In the darkness of this world Regaining my speech I shout “PLEASE…STOP…Come back to me, don’t leave me” But it is too late You are gone © 2010 West of Everyone |
