And so we bondA Poem by Wandering MinstrelWritten for my wife 25 years ago on our wedding dayThese diamonds clasped by metal on your third finger are meshed and so we bond together precious stones, and gold, to flesh, Flesh that I have held to be so precious since we met, as two souls swear to each their everlasting allegiance Families gathered, tear stained faces all have stood here too, friends and siblings also touched for soon their time is due. girls all dreaming of their dream man, guys all wiping sweat, grateful that they aren't the groom, as they envy what he gets. Preacher says some scary things on all that God expects, some of those pewbound, feel guilt, cause they left the homes they wrecked. Outside cars go rushing by a thousand lives enroute, to lives that started just this way, it's what love is all about. When those sweet words of "kiss the bride," are uttered then we'll share, a kiss like none we've known before, that simply says, "I'm there." I'm there through times of sorrow, and I'm there in days of joy, I'll hold your hand when you deliver, our first girl or boy, I'll cook you all my favorite things, dab ketchup from your face, we'll find a cozy little house, that we can call "our place." let's never fight when days are cold, or when the sky is sunny, if anger ever rears it's head, we'll whisper..."Love you honey. Someday we'll stand up here again, and watch our children say, the many words of love that we have both shared on this day. There's cake to smear, flowers to toss, and fun at our reception, some rocking tunes our honeymoon, and some day a conception. It started here in lace and veils, with a long white gown, and tux, And "hon, you look so handsome, think I'm gonna cry, Oh shucks!" Soon we'll hear the rattle of tin cans as we limo off to a life, full of love, great hope and many plans, we'll share as man and wife. "The amount that I love you, right now would fit in the corner of my eye....................My tears. © 2014 Wandering MinstrelReviews
