Drive To Nowhere

Drive To Nowhere

A Poem by ArtemisArrow777

I feel the heat when you feel the cold
I feel resilient when you feel alone
I feel so alive and you want to die
You feel so empty in the passenger seat
Music is playing above 43
Laughing and singing
Crying and screaming
It’s all emotions you don’t feel anymore
You sing to the tune but listen to the words
The notes resinate your thoughts
The speed limit is sixty
But you’re feeling eighty-five
You tell your friend to speed up past the limit
She craves the thrill, you crave the drive
She says it’ll be okay, it’ll be just fine
As the empty bottles of beer roll from the dash to the interior
Leather seats become a collection of memories and adventures
The moon shines through the dash
Our smiles seem to gleam
From the stars and the roads reflectors
It feels like a dream
It’s a little after nine
We drive until we aren’t sure where we are
We get kinda nervous , we get kinda tired
Let’s park over there and rest for awhile
