Phantom

Phantom

A Poem by Artemis
"

Wrote this recently, I was not in a good place

"

A vapid, lifeless shell,

Too exhausted to do anything but dwell

In the misery of the tedious life she lives,

Because despite her better judgement she always forgives,

Damning herself to a self-inflicted, monotonous hell.

However, dawn must always break,

And happiness she must fake,

Tricking herself into believing,

What she feels when she is intoxicated and deceiving,

As she drinks to numb the bitter ache.

But like a tidal wave it comes crashing down,

And leaves her alone with a headache and a frown,

As she contemplates her toxic lifestyle,

And how she heaves as if she'd run a mile,

When she sits crying, lonely, in her solitary ghost town.
