Firefly
A Poem by Julia Taylor
Driving on a summer night
A spattering of words
Like the glowing streak on my windshield
On a damp and wasted summer’s night
I drive through the hardest part
The leaving and not understanding.
The sky mirrors my fear
And that stupid bug on my window
While following me down this dark stretch,
This empty lane extending from somewhere
And I’ll search for someplace else to be.

Nice job or writing about loss and confusion. The images take the reader into the passenger seat and into the poet's hurt. Thanks for posting it.
