Take Me Home

Take Me Home

A Poem by The Last Poetic King

You brought death's hand towards me
And as the hand approached, I froze
Knowing that it was my time to let go

I used to think you were my only hope
To have a full home, little did I know

Can we just take a moment and forget?
Between all the cigarettes and sweat
Stifled moans, aching bones
Who would've known?

Did you know I wrote all these songs for you?
You were the very glue that held my heart inside my chest
Take a moment, press rewind, did you realize I was so repressed?
Did you know that this would be the moment to regress?
I bet you don't

Death never scared me
To die old and alone in this cold home
That's what hurts the most

I wonder what sin we fed
It looks like that lust consumed you
And envy had it's way with me

Can we just take a moment and forget?
Between all the cigarettes and sweat
Stifled moans, aching bones
Who would've known?

Who am I trying to convince?
These moments are in my head
And we're getting nowhere holding onto this

Take me home, take me home
My hands are cold and I can barely stand on these two feet
Take me home, take me home
I'm just asking you to forgive me
