My Giant Teddy Bear

A Father's Day poem for my father. I'm having a plaque made for him with this poem scribed onto it.

Dear Giant Teddy Bear,

From the very start,

You have always had my heart.

You taught me right from wrong,

And howled whenever I tried to sing a song.

You hugged me close when I was scared,

And chased away my fears with the fiercest of glares.

You tickled me until I screamed,

And watched over me when I dreamed.

I'm stubborn like you,

And sometimes I don't have a clue.

I may no longer be near,

But I'll always hold you dear.

I know better than to dare,

but you'll always be my Giant Teddy Bear.

I may no longer be small,

but I'll always be your Baby Doll.

With love,

This made me smile. Family is important, and a father's love never fades away! Nice when families get along - some of them don't!

Very true. It took a while for me to get there with my parents. It took cutting them out for 6 months for them to be willing to at least listen to my perspective of things and realize some of what they were doing was causing problems. The distance allowed us to have a healthy conversation and set some needed boundaries.
