My Grandmother

My Grandmother

A Poem by Arrinae
"

A tribute to Momo Twila

"

A strong-willed woman,

I never saw her falter.

Always proud,

Ready to stand her ground.

She's loved and lost,

More than I'll ever know.

Strong-willed and stubborn,

More than anyone I know.

She's watched the family grow,

In so many ways.

Inspired us all,

In her own way.

She is independent,

Wanting to do it all on her own.

It's time for her to rest.

Life has taken its toll.

Let her be at peace,

With those, she's missed most.

The coming days are heart-wrenching.

The tears won't stop flowing.

She knows she loved,

Though she may not know,

How much she means to us all.

To say goodbye,

Is a horrifying thought.

Like her, I will be strong.

I will try not to falter.

She is a grandmother,

And I am her granddaughter.

First of all this is a well written tribute, from the heart about your Grandmother. Nice composition, it is clear how much you love her. You are having to come to terms with losing her and that is very painful. You will grieve and grief is not any easy pathway to tread, but grief eventually does soften as you learn to live without her. You will eventually be able to recall wonderful memories without bursting into tears and reflect on the legacy she has left you. 98 is a good age, I hope she has had a good life. Know where you are, was very, very close to both of my Grandmother's or nannys, as I called them. You will learn to deal with it. And never forget, part of her is in your blood.
