Let it Rain

Just something I came up with while listening to Frozen's Let it Go.

Dark clouds cover the sky tonight,

Not a blue speck to be seen.

Thunder explodes over head,

 Lightning flashes with a scream.

The wind is brutal as it pushes things aside.

Can't hold it in, should I even try...

Don't let it out, don't set it free.

Be a good kid and ignore it's plea.

Control it all, don't let it go.

Well I say no!

Let it rain, let it pour!

Can't hold it in any more!

Let it rain, let it pour!

It's time to open the door!

Who really cares what they'll have to say?

Let the wind dance on.

The water won't melt me anyway.

Its funny how the thunder,

Makes everyone feel small.

And the restraint that once bound me, can't hold me back at all.

It's time for me to be true,

To follow the wind, and be renewed.

No cells, no chains, no confining me!

I'm free!

Let it rain, let it pour!

I'll dance with the wind and rain!

Let it rain, let it pour!

I'll never hide my pain!

Now I'll dance, and go my way!

Let the wind dance on.

My power chills the air and mends the damaged ground.

My spirit reflects on the water droplets falling down.

And one thought burst forth in a strong wind gust!

I'll never hold it back, this feeling is a blast!

Let it rain, let it pour!

And I'll wash the pain away!

Let it rain, let it pour!

This girl's ready to play!

Here I'm free,

From the tired old cliche!

Let the wind dance on!

The water won't melt me anyway.

Very nicely written and rhymed, Kayla ! Rain is a wonderful thing. You can cry in the rain and no-one will notice.

Truly the way this was written was melodic. Is it a song you wrote ?

Me too. I truly love the rain and storms and often laugh at people who are easily startled by lightning. I grew up playing outside in thunderstorms, sometimes watching as funnel clouds passed overhead.

My friend, Kay, is a Stormchaser. That is, when the weather is really rough, especially tornadoes, he goes out to video-record it. Lightning and thunder do frighten me so he is welcome to it. :)

Good way to get blown away. :7 Actually he's married to my sis out in the country so he gets lots of time to go storm chasing. He's shown me some of his video footage too, scary to say the least.

Absolutely a fabulous poem… I so love the rain, I find it soulfully soothing and spiritually healing… I can be at ease watching a storm no matter what troubles are in my life… I just love your descriptions and positive attitude in the poem.
