Chary paramour

Chary paramour

A Poem by Quill

I have learnt to tread carefully

As matters of my heart arise

I have begun to watch with a keen eye

As the emotions unfolds with desire

I have learnt to think meticulously

As love unveils it complexities

I have begun to reconsider actions

As this romance progresses

I have begun to tame the emotions

As these feelings cloud my thoughts

I have begun to use my strengths

As there are times when needed

I have begun to realize my weaknesses

As times for improvement suffices

I have begun to let certain things loose

As a constant grip may become adverse

I have begun to weigh my options

As I have realized that they always exist

I have begun to question my thoughts

As such may easily translate to actions

I have begun to consider my desires

As not all my wants should be pursued

I have given more consideration to my existence

As I realize there is a paramount purpose of my life

I think behind the lines lies an uncertainty about intimacy. The speaker may be getting deeper into a relationship and finding the waters uncharted. Nothing wrong with that; the possibility of pain scares all of us.
