Evaluation of the world around me questions the possibility of veracity

It almost seems idiotic to be sincere in any sustainable venture

Falsehood at certain times is declared as wisdom 

It takes the form of enlightenment and undying loyalty 

All evil and wrongdoings are consistently justified

The harbingers are revered as heroic figures

They are displayed as ever present role models 

It should be obvious the baneful demise of such a system

Yet I’m seated in obscurity as everyone continually dances to the tune

It is sad that history is written by the victor, while the victims only comfort is truth. Much of this applies to the foundation of the United States. This country where I was born tends to have a tedious relationship with historical facts. Especially, on the backs of those of us considered minorities. No matter what I do to a segment of my countrymen I will always be seen as less American. And in doing so I suffer a loss of cultural identity I may never retrieve. Thank you for sharing your poem that exudes a powerful message. CLE
