Circles of pain

Circles of pain

A Poem by Quill
"

we must break the pattern

"

Every being is responsible for their situation

It does not matter how much blame is passed

In the end we are all accountable for our selves

Meaning it is worth arguing that we have done badly

Concerning the ever breeding chaos

Without much thought we exploit

Without a pause we act on impulse

Without meaning we pursue expedience

With such a conjecture all to expect is misery

We have managed to enslave ourselves

Giving our souls to our vices

It is more appalling than it seems

Beings committed to self-destruction

Thereby embracing agony in this life and the afterlife

I understand we are complex creatures

Therefore fallible features are in our design

However there should be a threshold

For we must learn to attain a sustainable living

Our current status has fallen short of such a lifestyle

Due to an abandonment of the learning process

Hence we plunge ourselves into an undying malady

And we pull other somewhat innocents into this crisis

It is nothing but maddening and saddening

We must learn to question our actions

We must redress our thoughts

And we must redesign our words

For there is nothing higher than self and world amelioration

By simply striving to be better

Else we might relegate to eternal torment

I like the message of personal responsibility and accountability. Love is hard work, responsibility and sacrifice. It isn't a chubby cherub shooting arrows at his Valentine. Not flowers and candy and kisses on moonlit strolls either, those these latter things may well play a part in the romance of the heart. What it boils down to in the process is putting the happiness of others before our own, whether it takes us out of our comfort zone or not. Maybe, particularly, if it does. A great write showing maturity and conviction. I enjoyed the read.

I love the message, it’s nice and conveys your thoughts as well as values. I however think it’s too restrictive and dogmatic particularly to the Gen zs. Weldone Quill.

I love this poem! It encourages reflection on what is seemingly irrelevant. I like when a poem deals with moral dilemmas. I am most interested in works that deal with philosophical threads. I love the atmosphere of your poetry. Regards!

wow. such a philosophical and thought provoking piece. i like it a lot - really made me think with a bit of shame and guilt. we can't control everything that happens to us, only our reactions and responses. good job ... :)
