The DarknessA Poem by Quillthe other side of us allA gnawing madness claws at the back of my mind It seeks to be free of its shackles Its discomfort in its domain gives it encouragement This beast seeks to possess my very self It wants to take hold of my words and actions Its need for decadence and malevolence is relentless Its poisonous ambition is insatiable Truly a discomforting thing to have exist within me It is a part of me which I was born with It took different forms as I grew But it had always been there It often gets empowered by certain motivations Rattling its cage with fierce intensity This ferocious being is latched to my existence Forever postulating its need to wreak havoc As vile as this thing may be it is still needed Its existence is required for a balance One must not grant it full power Neither must one not neglect its use I must take pertinent care to understand its motives Hence I shall understand myself as a whole Therefore I will not be engulfed in this darkness I simply use its existence to bring about light © 2022 QuillAuthor's Note
