Near NumbedA Poem by Quillstay away from the extremeIt's difficult to admit to fading affection Some fear it and refuse to acknowledge its occurrence Others simply hope for a return of the feelings Both accounts could easily lead to ruin For one must come to terms with reality And address its occurrence as needed So how is this to be addressed? How can one ascribe the required action? It's by seeking how one reached that point And upon close inspection I had a realization The emotions loosen its grips at too extremes One comes from a place which lacks firmness Such a mind becomes anemic and ultimately pathetic The other comes from a place of too much hardness Such a mind becomes nihilistic and ultimately brutal Whatever the case both ends in pain and regret Therefore one must construe a defined line on both parts A fine line which separates empathy and weakness Another line which separates strength from ruthlessness With such a disposition proper unions are built Ruin is abated and living is brilliant Only then can we live in ingenuity © 2019 QuillAuthor's Note
