Masochistic enchantment

Masochistic enchantment

A Poem by Quill
"

the love of pain

"

Suffering and pain are one all folks seek to avoid

Be it long or short termed, pain is never desirable

However at times pain may be needed for better things to come

For there is such a thing as meaningful suffering

One which grants glorious rewards in the final analysis

But I have seen a unique kind of pain and suffering some folks long for

It is fostered by decadence and immorality

Without any real aim towards meaningful living

Only to pursue uncontrolled primal wants

Which is the devaluing of oneself for questionable extrinsic rewards

Why would one subject themselves to such lunacy?

How much glitter do the suffering carry to make them alluring?

What sort of enjoyment would warrant such debilitation?

The roots of such madness are actually not hidden

They are often fostered by nihilistic standpoints

Which was generated from feelings of weakness

Born through a series of unrelenting tragedies

Without the will to withstand the maladies of life

There is a descent to the dark void of nothingness

A place ruled by nothing but unending corruption

And despite the decay and degeneration the victims gleefully cling to perversion

Without much understanding of the consequences

It would depend... I solved it by being in a loving, though sexually masochistic relationship... I related to your description of what it's like: "devaluing of oneself for questionable extrinsic rewards"... but thankfully, when done with a lover/partner who can separate the brutality of the act yet still love you tenderly, there is freedom to be had.

Thank you for this brave piece.

The layers of transference can be truly stupefying. Societal prerequisite baubles replacing anything of true notes of import. I see it too and it makes me so sad for them I was once in that place and it is so heavy and yet fraught with emptiness. nice thought penning here Quill

glad you can relate
"How much glitter do the suffering carry to make them alluring?"

I think the better question would be, "How much glitter do the suffering carry to make others alluring?"

This made me think of mica, the shiny silicate minerals, that are used in virtually all makeup. If it shimmers, it most likely has mica in it. The problem is that most mica is mined in India through child labor. Children are forced to dig the tunnels by hand and have been killed or maimed doing so. It's so ironic to me that, on the one hand, people use makeup to beautify themselves, without any thought given to the suffering of those who work their fingers to the bone to get the main ingredient to make it.

Often, perversion is all the Godless have left to believe in--or feel they deserve.
