Nothingness

Nothingness

A Poem by Quill
"

soulless world

"

I have always wondered how the worth of an individual could be determined

Well it is pretty palpable that society holds individuals in higher value than others

You see what hassles me is I can’t seem to place a general reason as to why

Now I do know the value of a person is arguable based on different fields of thought

But I still wonder if there can be a deeper reason for this supposition

Is the value of a person determined by wealth, appearance or ability?

Maybe it is determined by mere declaration by the masses,

If not then I shall forever wonder what truly gives a person value,

If so then everything is nothingness.

It’s an interesting concept that questions relativism, and I would say leads to questions the concept of moral relativism(a theory that I believe calls for everything to mean nothing).

I would say the creator of something is who gives meaning to something, and I do believe humanity has a creator.

I do not believe the Devine Command Thoery(which states whatever the creator says is good, is good) is an adequate argument to reject moral relativism, but I do believe the concept of this argument is adequate to reject relativism when it comes to people’s worth.

I hope some of that made enough sense to benefit your ponding of the question what gives a human value.

I enjoyed your thought provoking read.

alright, i'll check it out
I enjoyed this poem and can relate to what your saying. My opinion on a humans value is to make the world a better kinder place. Whether you have the means to feed a nation or nothing more to give another than a comforting embrace, your making the world a better place.

"Nothingness" quite accurately sums up the world's less-than-flimsy judgement of human beings.
According to the King James version of the Bible, Ecclesiastes said: " I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and behold all is vanity and vexation of the spirit."
You are, apparently, in pretty good company.
An excellent bit of work!
