Modern Striver

A Poem by Quill
"

Telling the tale of how the world has come to be in my eyes

"
I am once again compelled to succumb to the will of the machine,
times like this when my back is against the wall irritates my soul,
gone are the days when the activities of this mechanical beast where not avowed,
now are days the operations of this mechanical beast is so obvious,
and it sickens my heart that no one seeks to oppose it's process,
it's recreant nature obliges all to partake in it's bidding,
I do not sought after it's destruction,
the possibility of that is nearly unfeasible,
i just refuse to be part of it's system.

This sounds to me like you are trying not to conform to something, whether it be the media or a mass of people in general. I like the way you worded this, it shows a change in times and what I believe is your dismay with the way the world is currently.

Aloha,

Thank you for your comments on my poem. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts...

This one to me sounds like a plea for independence... to stand up with one's values and not bend.

Nicely written.

So direct, and yet so open to interpretation. I love the first person view, as it gives the sense of reality that all good poetry has! Love the closing: "I just refuse to be part of it's system."

glad you like it
to me sounds like Terminator, a war against the machines, hahahha. I like it. Philosophical indeed. I can see the theme of fighting for freedom, trying to control ones life in a world where everything and everyone is trying to control you. And the persona wants change, but it looks like its only him/her as seen in this line:"and it sickens my heart that no one seeks to oppose it's process".
