The Birthing of Cynicism.A Poem by Touché ArmadaIt's old and detached now, told millions of times by millions of people, in millions of words. Anyone feeling caustic might appreciate it. (No I dont feel caustic)
Twisted with rickets the sickle moon smiled discord,
Conductive winds raced high the luminescent sky Crying gelignite to pavement Off bowed leaves In stillness, silence. One crash of thunder from unseasonable skies Called after by nothing, nothing But the howl of the wind, over, under, steel cables Climbing to summits, you left to without me.
Tyranny my love Silent tyranny, Slashed and tore to break the heavy tones A word, a word Redoubt my thoughts! Debate! Where were the pyrotechnic forces? Oh the ones that made me cry Made me insane Not for joy nor sadness But for the smothering embrace. Madness’s we’d made our own Unequivocal Unrequited Unmatched Of selfish strangers equally fearful Of who we had become, so dependant. Such short years led Necrosis, I prayed derided Oh where did you wonder? Too often for my eyes to want to see. Did you not feel the earth? It plummeted from beneath your feet I fell, never your world, Left to consume my heart. The flames dwindled softest orange flags hissing in those Blue eyes of ice and permanent frowns, How could I draw back that distance? Ignite that smile? A feathery stroke of neck? Flinching writhing like a stranger WHY!? You would not fall in my arms But how I craved yours! Bitter sweet turmoil Empty fragile cares I screamed in failure at empty books The books that should be us ours Things left standing, spinning, out of control over anyone but myself. I deduced this is marriage, But not of mind Not of soul Not of essence, But certain death, Like a caged falcon, Wings shattered, dragged against a dome of shields, © 2008 Touché ArmadaFeatured Review
