GloriaA Poem by ArlineI wrote this for my Grandma who has passed away. I miss her as the rest of my family, but she is never gone from our hearts. Please review.I remember that day, I saw you lay; your
final rest. Yet, I cannot remember
those days, That surely were the
best. I ask myself, “Were
they not that important?” Your eyes back then Were a gentle brown. That showed great
determination, Whenever in a crazy situation.
Now, they are shut
forever. Your lips back then, Spoke a strong voice Full of pride, Always ready for any
ride. Now, you’ll speak not
ever. Tears flowing like a
stream, I never thought I would have to see you
in my dreams. Ever one That comes to me, Shows you are here, As though you were
never gone. Gone from this world, Gone from our sights, Or gone from my side. I regain such joy To believe in this
world My mind creates of you.
Till I wake from my
slumber, And feel at a lost. God, how could this
have happened? A woman who held such a
fire for life, That it would spread like
those in a field. A woman who gave us such
a sweet tooth, With those flavorful
cinnamon cookies, There were hardly any
crumbs left. A woman who brought
such play and hijinks To her kids that they wanted
nothing, But to laugh with her and
consume her with love. Now, the flame has
dime, The cookies have lost
flavor, And we, her kids, miss
her dearly. In my eyes they maybe blurry In thoughts I may hold
regret, But not all is forgotten,
Not all is forsaken. You are never far from
our minds And never gone from our
hearts. You’ll forever be; Gloria,
a mother and grandmother to us all. © 2015 Arline |
