Arlene, this was brilliant. I think we have all felt like this before:
Will they make sense
To anyone but me?
And how much would it matter
If anyone else even reads them?
Will they like them?
Should I care?
Am I writing for myself or them?
But you are right, who cares. As long as you are satisfied with it, nothing else matters. Like you said so perfectly.. you are writing for yourself!
Great piece, very original look at the birth of a poem
Different people have different ideas about writing, and the reasons behind it. I write for me, mainly, and don't really care how many (or how few) people read my work. A writer should, however, try to make his/her work relatively easy to understand, otherwise readers will be lost before they reach the end of the poem. A writer needs not only to use poetic expression in their work, but also to connect with the reader. Keep on writing. The more we write, the better we get!
I myself wonder if what I write will make sense. How long do you wait before posting if I may ask, or should I but a ticket before asking? :)

This may surprise you... most of my poems were written a long time ago. Still have to re-post them .. read moreThis may surprise you... most of my poems were written a long time ago. Still have to re-post them all.
Wonderful self expression! Writing for oneself is a gift we give unto ourselves anytime we feel like it. It's almost like humming a tune in your head..hitting all the notes..and no one else knowing about it, until you allow them to!
Kudos. I never write for myself though. If I was going to do that I probably wouldn't write at all. I'd have them already in my head and could just visit them anytime I wanted. Good write.
Good job, I liked this one alot. Good flow and rhyme. I can SO appreciate what you are saying here. I was told once that we really write for ourselves and if others like them fine, if not, well that's ok too. Good work. ;)
how did i miss this one! brilliant indeed! not saying this cuz of the deep river of love i hold for you in my heart but because you executed with precision yet creativity the point we as writers all feel! outstanding hon.
