The Pain Remains
A Poem by
Arlene Fleisher
Written 5/10/06 from my thoughts and feelings after sitting outside, sharing a cup of coffee with our dog at 5am... body wracked with the pains of rheumatoid arthritis
Awake
Alone in my pain
While the whole house sleeps
Oblivious.
The hooting of an owl
For company.
Does he feel my pain?
He sounds like he does.
Small comfort
But it's there
Sharing my tears.
And then... he's gone
And the pain remains.

i can relate to this feeling. ...and it brings back memories of my Grandma, lying in pain, but never complaining. She was such a strong woman...
anyways....
the beginning part:
Awake
Alone in my pain
While the
whole house sleeps
Oblivious.
So true, so sad and frustrating. Everyone else gets to have peace and rest while you lie awake in pain :(

Oh morning and nights when I have felt this way. I have hereditary spastic paraplegia, so I know how you feel hun. An emotional poem of pain, not sure which is worse at times, the phsyical pain or the emtional, knowing I am just 34 and feel 80, lol! Ah, well, life goes on, thanx for sharing hun. XX

Hey I remember that owl!!! :) Sorry I was way upstairs passed out, not aware of the deeper pain you felt at that very moment... I think Princess knew tho... Don't discount her... All animals know...
Great poetic verse... brings back many of my own haunting memories of feeling all alone in my pain... different types of pain...
Faerie Blessings my Love!
