My Socks?A Poem by AriaroseThis is a little poem I wrote. I actually came up with the idea in a rant of mine and the Leprichauns have stuck with me ever sinceI awake in the morning My feet are so cold In confusion I look down below At my unadorned feet I look on in wonder Really this has to be a blunder I could have sworn I fell asleep With my socks upon my feet But there they stare, quite confusingly bare I search around my bed, my blanket, my room My socks seem to have slipped off to places unknown I open my drawer to get another pair And gasp at the horrible sight of my drawer, quite bare Where could my socks have gone? I wonder in anguish I stop and think as hard as I can But an answer doesn’t come no matter how much I stare I was about to close the drawer and give up When a colorful little scrap of cloth caught my eyes, quite stuck In the corner of the drawer sits a tiny rainbow hat “Where in the world could this have come from” I thought taken aback As I stared at this tiny little hat A story I once heard started trickling back “No it can’t be” I told myself in a whisper They don’t exist, their just a myth! I sat upon my bed in shock It must be true, I thought The Rainbow Colored Leprechauns do exist Its truth that was spoke, not a myth They struck in the night, just like the stories said They steal your socks while you’re snug in your bed I look on in despair at my empty sock drawer Knowing I have nothing but smelly sweaty feet odor in store Keep my story in mind the next time you think “My socks will never be just gone in a wink” Just remember the next time you wake with your feet in a draft That the horrid little Leprechaun’s are looking on at you If you sit still enough You can hear them laugh © 2012 Ariarose |
