Dear God

Dear God

A Poem by Aries1984
"

I must admit, the recent terror attacks and mass shootings got me really scared. I'm so sick and tired of all of the cowardly carnage in this world.

"
Dear God,

I kneel before you tonight in my humanity
Jesus, I'm so scared to go outside, to go to work
I'm so scared of what could happen again eventually
I don't know when, or where the next threats lurk.

I live in a time plagued by despotism
Where some have lost their hearts and souls
All of the scary stuff I keep seeing on television
Makes it seem like this world is being riddled with bombs and bullet holes.

Please help us find our empathy
Our human decency and integrity
Because above all, now is when we need this clarity
For it seems that we have lost all human dignity.

I never thought that I'd live to see the time
Where a grown adult would retaliate against the innocent
Where indifference has hit it's ultimate prime
Don't these people know they are a terrorist's equivalent?

I'm scared beyond words, I fear for my Muslim friends
Lord I ask you to protect them and their families
They are innocent and like the rest, pray this carnage ends
Lord please keep us away from more of these tragedies.
