CharlestonA Poem by Aries1984Just my thoughts on the tragedy that happened at the AME Church in Charleston, SC.
I've been sitting and pondering over the tragedy this past few days
Couldn't find a proper way to express myself, how could this happen in a house of praise? With all these mass shootings becoming a regular happening When will we finally wake up and stop the useless political babbling? At what point have some people decided to trade their soul to become a demon? And trade those things that makes them human? I don't get it, how can someone sit through an HOUR of Bible study? Inside of a sanctuary belonging to Christ's own body! Then get up and tell everyone that they're here to kill black people, In a place that love built, that's supposed to be peaceful! In a place where people go to find spiritual relief A place where people go to freely practice their belief! A place that has no room for hate and divide This shooter's attendance in the Bible study was not even denied! You'd think that we'd gone far from being a racist society But I see that we're still drunk with it and still have yet to reach sobriety. We should be asking ourselves some serious questions And we need to do some soul-searching on how to deal with these tensions. We need to take the time to rediscover who we are Because as a society we've only dug our own graves too far. We've dug too far down that now we need another saving And that can only be truth and love which everyone should be craving. For hatred has only been driving us apart And racism? That's not only a disease of the mind, it's the disease of the heart. © 2015 Aries1984 |
