I'm A ChristianA Poem by Aries1984This is about a lot of the stereotypes that those of us who are in the faith have to deal with on a timely basis, whether it's through word of mouth, on the news, in your face, or on social media.I’m a Christian, and far from perfect I’m too far from being pious But some people think that I respect, Practice and preach discrimination and bias.
I’m a sinner that’s always in need of saving I often times do things I don’t mean In times when I should be praying I fall into things which are unclean.
My name may mean “holy” Yet it’s something that I can’t live up to For He is the one who I give all the glory And He is the one who pulls me through.
I’m a Christian, not a punch bag I’m a human being just like everyone I don’t go out there to bash or brag With my Bible and a shotgun.
I’m a Christian who loves science And for this I get labelled a “hypocrite” I am in constant need of His guidance Because I too, have questions and doubts I admit.
I don’t always see eye to eye with other believers All it means is that I’m just being me I don’t agree with some church leaders That’s the beautiful thing about Christianity.
I’m a part of the body of Christ’s imperfect union I often times say things I shouldn’t say Because first and foremost I am human That’s what I am at the end of the day. © 2015 Aries1984Author's Note
