Thoughts on the Bench

Letting your thoughts run wild and free.

They run so freely in my mind

As I sit down to ponder for the sake of pondering

The scenery just leaves me wondering

As I take a few minutes to unwind.

 

I watch people walk by me

As the cool wind glides across my skin

As thoughts run wild within

And I see them flying free.

 

I watch them slowly land

On the strips of the bench

And as they firmly entrench

Their words of wisdom expand.

 

"Live, love, laugh"

"Do or die, there is no try"

That message doesn't lie

They take up a half.

 

They take up this half of the bench

And slowly their fading

Mother Nature is slowly taking

The heart these message clench.

 

It inspired me to write this piece

As I sit here pondering for the sake of pondering

Everything around me gets me wondering

The cool evening wind gently blowing with ease.

 

I ponder about many things

As I observe life all around

Listen to the music sound

Of bands slapping their guitar strings.

 

Drummers penetrating the night with their beats

As the street lamps glow bright

Ingniting the night

As lovers of nightlife walk the streets.

 

And now as the bars are starting to close down

I must go on my merry way

No matter how much I'd like to stay

To ponder on the bench in this town.

I really like this poem. I often go to the beach for inspiration and find myself people watching. I like the way you captured the moment of that day and your observations.

Yep! I do have my spots around town where I like to sit down and ponder. I hope to do more of that in the next few months.
