HistoryA Poem by Aries1984Trying out a new way of rhyming while talking about one of my favorite subjects.
If I could summon history's past
I'd ask it a few curious questions I'd see if I could get some suggestions Maybe with the present make some parallel connections It really would be quite a blast. If I could travel back in time I'd like to see how people lived without today's commodities How they dealt with atrocities Know more about their social communities This is a big dream of mine. If only I could take a trip down history's road And stand at the doorsteps of science Live in a time where there was no electrical appliance The heavens being the only navigational guidance Would sure be cool to learn the Morse Code. Life would sure be different And as a woman, I know I'd have limited to no rights Would only be able to read books by candle lights With no airplane, no flights And death from disease would be more imminent. Still I wonder what it'd be like When every day duties were physical When machinery was atypical When people were more empirical During the age of reason's spike. I think that those people were way more social Face to face than we are in this age. In the days when acting was done on stage Even though they lived on a much more smaller wage And sending letters was done by postal. Life was lived in face to face interaction When communities gathered and celebrations were real When social activity was more surreal Making the experience a great ordeal Unfortunately those people's lives are hard to fully caption. Only because they belong to history. © 2015 Aries1984 |
