An Ode to the Harvest MoonA Poem by Aries1984This is a poem about an experience I had late one night while heading back home from work. It was in the middle of Fall which is when the big harvest moon glows brightly in the sky.
In the stillness of the night I ride
With your light shinning down before me Lighting the path to guide Me home from work safely. There you hang above a line of trees So lonesome up there you look So still, and yet with a gentle ease Fear of darkness, away from me, you took. The night sky is covered in pitch blackness It can cause any man to get lost But tonight your light is oh so harmless That in the midst of the trail, I paused. While I gaze up at your celestial face I wonder what you're thinking when you look down Your a guiding like, tonight, my saving grace Illuminating the night sky of a sleeping town. Oh what peace you radiate upon my mind Oh what calmness now caresses my soul I never thought that in the moon I'd find A peace beyond all understanding, tranquility taking control. For a moment I forgot that I'm alone For a single moment I feel safe Even though I'm in the midst of dangers unknown I found refuge in your celestial light's wave. But all good things must come to an end And towards the house I have to ride What a lovely time with you I did spend My peaceful guiding light. © 2015 Aries1984 |
