Blood-Splattered Rose

Blood-Splattered Rose

A Poem by Ariel Nicole

Cold as winter; Hard as stone
She faces the bitterness on her own
With no one to help her through
Her loss of trust and love she knew

Hands held high, reaching for pain
Crying for love, while going insane
Hunting for a place to call home
Forsaken lies of a love overthrown

A message in the bottle, clutched in her hand
Alone in the dark; alone she will stand
Unfortunete with the decision she chose
Nothing in the dark but a single rose

A single rose with a single fear
If the one who holds it sheds a tear
A lonesome tear that suddenly falls
With a scream held behind enemy walls

A single fear; a single fault
As the scream comes to a sudden halt
Nothing left but what she chose
A single tear that suddenly froze

Now her fear comes to a close
and in her hand, a single white, blood-splattered rose

I rather enjoyed reading this and while the rhyme scheme seemed a bit off, it worked well and created a pleasant rhythm. Great poem!
