Finding the Alternative

Finding the Alternative

A Poem by ArieannexAntithetic
"

Writing that describes my past when I was shadowed by vices. This is just another piece of my never-ending testimony.

"

Always speaking through the silence

Screaming echoes in the dark

Fighting off things in her dreams

Dreams? A reality more like

Throwing up all the things she could say

When help is lying in a locked box

Broken life, she doesn't want to be bothered

Covered up her eyes to the gold called hope

Save her? You aren't there she says

Nobody to take her by the hand in her thoughts

Hope is lying there in a book

Tainted paper with meaningless words?

You, committed to the words

She gets a glare and sees your golden knowledge

You clasp your hands and pray

She drinks away her troubles

Hope? Only for the golden-hearted
Hope? Always out of reach

Hope? Falling through her fingers

Hope? Never means a thing

Hope is the only word she needs

To contemplate and wrap her arms around

The key to help is across the room with a counselor

Words behind the lips of the Priest, listening from the beautiful church pews

Hope? Only a miracle

Hope? Lacking pleasure and full of confusion

Twirling around in seeming innocence

Above the skin: Pureness

Below the skin: Evil

In her demons' shadows

She falls under a sheet of black

Black for eternity

Always night for her

Worshipping the Moon and knowing only her vices

Hope? Dipped in poison

Hope? Shattered like a mirror

Hope? Stealing from the pure

Hope? Smiles of deceit

Word vomit thrown along with ink

Thumbing through papers with sins marked in madness

Hope? Crumbling into pieces

Hope? Thrown into a wall

Violence to herself is her self-expression

Hiding her pain with extra needles and threads

Sitting on an evergreen branch, high above the world

Looking way down on life

She jumps, with broken thoughts in her mind

Never scared, she thinks she is alone

Loved ones never in the know

Nothing said except for in writing

Writing never to be found

Hope? Pure luck

Hope? A shattered definition

Hope? An insaitiable hunger

Hope. The love she needs

I really like this.
It's captivating.
I'd have to say the part that spoke to me that most was:
"Word vomit thrown along with ink
Thumbing through papers with sins marked in madness
Hope? Crumbling into pieces
Hope? Thrown into a wall
Violence to herself is her self-expression
Hiding her pain with extra needles and threads
Sitting on an evergreen branch, high above the world
Looking way down on life
She jumps, with broken thoughts in her mind
Never scared, she thinks she is alone"
I love the description and the image the words paint in my head.
Spiralling, swirling images.
Captivating.
Great write.

Amazing.
Absolutely amazing imagery that you had, and I loved the repeated thought and view of hope. Wonderful ending on how you stopped asking it as a question and simply stated it as what it is. Lovely poem.
