I'm Afraid

I'm Afraid

A Poem by Chummy

I'm Afraid

I'm afraid of being abandoned and forgotten
Because everybody seems to leave in the end
It is as if they forgot that I was even alive
The moment they walk right out of my life.

I'm afraid of being judged for who I truly am
Nowadays, it's rare to find someone who understands
It is as if I tell a person about my problems
And they are quick to speak but slow to listen.

I'm afraid of being treated like dirt
Countless are the times I have been hurt
I get easily affected and disappointed by little things
The worst is feeling down when one has everything.

I'm afraid of being lost in a place
Where I cannot recognize a single face
I sincerely hope and pray a time will come
When all of these fears will be dead and gone.

All in all, I am truly afraid for myself
Nobody seems to listen when I call out for help
But I do not give up, I do not quit
For I still hope that this race I will win.
