Ripped and ragged tents. Flaps slapping in the breeze. The barker's voice calls to me. The organ plays a haunting melody.
Disfigured faces take their places. The show is about to start. Come one, come all. Take your seat. Welcome to my carnival heart.
Fire breathers and tightrope walkers, take the stage and do a show or two. Then they leave and new acts take their places. Who they are, I haven't a clue.
My blood runs cold at the sight of painted faces. An irrational fear, it's true. And yet still, I'm breathless and left seeking refuge.
And at once, it gets silent. The sounds abandoning me. No longer willing to take part.
Come one, come all, there are plenty of seats. Welcome to my desolate carnival heart.
Dreams really are fascinating things. Several dreams have shaped some of the events in The Rising Sun (a book I'm writing), my poems, etc. Excellent job on this piece, I really enjoyed it! :D
Salubrious!. Stupendous! Brilliant stuff Ashley I love the carnivals and to me they express a sinister side and your description of this and how you feel is one bloody good write!
