Cupid

This piece was inspired after listening to Amy Winehouse's cover of "Cupid"

Cupid, keep your bow. I don't want to force his love,
I just want it to flow.
I fully want my lover's heart,
I don't want to depend on your part.

Cupid, don't make me cry.

If you force, he'll say goodbye.

It's true that my love life's
a mess.
But I don't want to depend on
you for happiness.

I'm not sure if I believe in

your fairy tale,
even though you tell it well.

Cupid, leave me alone.

How many times must I
ask you to go?
I want love,
but I want to gain it
on my own.

Just take your bow

and depart.
I'll be the one to win his heart.

Oohh Amy Winehouse:) a marvellous singer with a marvellous voice...It was so good to see you do such a fitting tribute to her. Your words provoked in me the thought that never before have I believed in Cupid. The persona in your poem emblazons her strength with her determination to win love by herself...and not to rely on any external forces.
The rhyme scheme here is very gentle as well, very much songlike. Cheers!
