A Bouquet

A Bouquet

A Poem by ♥ Ari Skye ♥
"

The perfect gift for a bitter heart...

"
Give me a bouquet
of paper cuts
and a box of nails.
The perfect gift
for the heart that's bitter.

A constantly loving
heart that has no one
to love.

Looking for somewhere
to place the blame.
All the days wasted,
it's such a shame.

A bouquet of heartache
was presented to me.
Wrapped in ribbons,
made of leech.

Sucking out my blood
and memories.
Good.
This is just what I need.

haha
You're welcome!!
The 4th and 5th stanza are my faves. The sarcasm rolled in with the hurt and bitterness is conveyed very well here. So many can relate to these feelings. Thank you for sharing

Thanks Nini!
"A constantly loving heart that has no one to love." I've said this with you before. It seems as though the hearts that are the most sensitive and willing to love the strongest, are the ones that are turned away the most. I don't understand the logic and I don't think I ever will. Every time you see that couple holding hands or that Valentine gift box, it reopens the wounds. You described the nature of a bitter heart perfectly. Thank you for sharing with me my friend.

Thanks Christopher. I thought you, out of all my friends, would get this one the most.. I'm glad you.. read more
The first and fourth stanzas are my favorites in this piece. The first, especially, with its references to "building" a bitter heart and deeper symbolism of the nails which could be said to have been those to crucify a heart. Paper cuts, a possible reference to self cutting. The fourth, the image of ribbons of leeches, is such a vivid image. Good job in describing a bitter heart.
