Oleander

This piece was actually just written. Like, 2 minutes ago. Lol I believe it speaks to all who try to find beauty before personality.

Be careful what

you wish for.

Sometimes even

beauty has a price

to pay.

 

Just because it

appeals to the eyes,

doesn't mean it's

good for the heart.

 

Sometimes it can

be a poison in

your veins.

 

Much like an oleander,

I am a paradox

within myself.

 

You may see beauty

on the outside,

but the inside

is wicked as sin.

Despite what anyone may say, physical attraction is nearly always the first to grab a person's attention. That being said, sometimes we get to know others before we really get to see them so my former statement does not always hold true. I am of the later category myself and believe we should always look at a person from the inside out. I really enjoyed this piece and love the title - so beautiful yet so poisonous. Great write!

I agree. If I'm attracted to the mind that's the prize for me. Even if you don't fit society's standard of beauty, which I feel I don't, your mind could be the beautiful thing anyone has ever seen. I've never been one to fall just for they physical attractiveness. That helps, yes, but I'm usually attracted to the mind. Thank you for your review FT. I always appreciate your opinon!

Aaahhhh...beautifully written.....well, "all those who seek beauty before personality"? I would say that is a natural tendency......yet because we only look with our physical eyes, and not also with the eyes of or hearts, we miss glaringly obvious gaps in people.........and about the inside....."wicked as sin" I would say applies to all of us........when, for example, we consider ourselves to have substantial personalities, we may become vain....or regard ourselves superior to others........captivating write......a thought stirring inside me now is, what if the world will spend as much time, beautifying our souls, as much as we attempt to beautify our bodies?

I agree whole heartedly. That's where I got the idea. I'm intrigued by the Oleander plant. It's so beautiful, but so poisonous! Sometimes obsessions with beauty can be detrimental to people as well. Thank you for reading!
