Absence

Absence

A Poem by Ari
"

A reminder of why I will never let you go again.

I know I won't feel.

Not for things in life.

Not for people.

Not for hobbies.

Or experiences.

Not the way I hardly remember I used to.

I'd often wonder if I've turned to ice,

Or if I'm even present.

As I walk the streets mechanically,

On autopilot,

I will question what was there.

And what now isn't.

I guess it's safe to say,

Back when I gave my heart away to you--

It was never really returned.

A fine poem, Ari, and yeah, it's true, it still hurts.
