The Cross

The Cross

A Poem by Angelica
"

Dark as night... because it is... so why do I see a hazy bright light in the shape of a cross in the night sky?

"

I went to the drive-in tonight

first time in years and years

I only stayed for the first show

but on the drive home

in the darkened night sky

I see a bright and hazy patch of light

and the shape of a cross

It makes me wonder...

is this the night

I'm meant to die?

I drive on expecting

the image in the sky

to fade away,

but it stays with me

all the way home

As I pull into my small town

and round the corner

I look up to see the cross

adorning the top of the

grain elevator tower

It is miles from the theater

to this cross...

but yet this is the image

that brought me home

Perhaps the cross

was there for my protection

and to see me safely home

Or am I dreaming

a dreamer's dream?

I clicked on this title not only because it was the first on your list but the other evening I saw almost exactly the same thing out my slider into our rear yard. It makes me wonder if we are being told to take stock of our lives and that he is always near. It is so nice to read you again my friend and I PROMISE I will try hard to get back to visit real soon. Ya know me, always on the fly. Hugs to a very dear friend, Lesa

Was it a dreamers dream? Looks like my friend we each need to fing our hearts and our pens. It seems it has been some time since there has been a new post by yourself. Love the picture by the way. Hugs, Lesa

Maybe it was your spirit guide making a blatant attempt at being visible to you.
I don't know. Cool poem though!
I should say I think the fifth stanza was very nice in that it gave a good mental image of the situation, which made the writing more vivid without over describing.

A very beautiful write Angelica. I think perhaps you really did see that cross of light in the night sky...but it was just another form our angels take in our own world of spiritual awakening. Visions and miracles have been proved through the history of time...and who is to say what's possible and what's not. Sometimes a dreamers dream can be a dreamer's reality.......................................................Love...liz

It is scarey sometimes, driving home alone in the dark, isn't it?
Especially if we are so far away from home. I sure don't do it, if
I can get out of it. LOL! There too much meanness in the world
today.

Sounds to me like God was letting you know that He was
right there with you all the way home.

Thank you for this wonderful entry for my challnge.

I liked this Angelica. Sometimes things seem surreal at night and you have described
so well a scene something like I have experienced. Was it real or was it a 'dreamers dream''?

One is left to ponder on this and what an intriguing question it is!

Thanks for this great write for Sue's contest
