Chapter 3

B**b tubes and Mini skirts

 

I woke up in the morning, my mouth dry, and my face sore from being pressed against the chair. When I arrived at school the bell had just gone, great HPE, just what I needed.

“Now class today we are starting our new sport martial arts. We will be focusing on self defence for the first few weeks. First we are going to practice punch/block exercises. Pair up.”  I stood around until Jamie walked up to me.

“Hey new girl, you and me,”

“Sure, why not,” We started with general block exercises; Jamie was a really good sparing partner, she did need help blocking though.

“So, new girl. Coming to tryouts?”

“Huh?”

“Cheerleading tryouts, duh,”

“Oh yeah, um I didn’t bring anything else to wear,” I said pointing at my clothes.

“I’ll lend you something,” She replied smiling.

“Thanks,”

“Sure thing, but if you get in you have to stop hanging out with that freak Zane,”

“Sure thing, I’ll do it. Oh but dam it, my English assignment is with him,”

“You can be my partner!”

“Cool, it’s done.” I replied blocking another punch before the bell went.

 

I walked into English after Jamie, following her to the back of the room, Zane watched me as I sat down.

“Miss, aren’t we meant to sit with our partners?” he asked.

“Yes Zane we are,”

“Oh Miss, Sakura is my partner now,” Jamie announced.

“Ok Jamie, just to make sure we all have partners, Anita can be Zanes’ partner now.” Anita gave me a stare worse than death as she walked up and sat next to Zane.

“Ok Sakura, we’re doing a story about a girl who’s jealous of a popular girl,” She said smiling, “She’s a, um?”

“Pyromaniac,” I said through clenched teeth.

“Yep a pyro’ that’s it” I couldn’t say no, this was my way out of this mess.

“Sure thing.” I said forcing a smile.

“Now I’ll do the popular girl, you pyro.” I breathed out, this was getting stupid. 

 

When the bell went to notify us of another trudging day had come to the end Jamie pushed me towards the MPS, placing a bag in my arms. I changed into the clothes and walked out into the main area. 15 anxious girls stood in there holding pom-poms.

“Now we need to pep and school spirit,” Jamie announced.

“Sakura Richards, you can go first.” Anita said sneering at me.

“Good luck newbie,” Jamie yelled. Ok, I’ve seen this in movies. I’ll do what they did. I jumped and yelled out encouraging things about the school team. “Congratulations newbie, you’re in. Wow, I’d finally gotten into something. By the end of the whole thing they had 5 new cheerleaders, me, Mindy, Avril, Bonita, and Chelsea.

 

I took off my gear, getting back into my normal clothing; Jamie was outside waiting for me. “We’re going shopping,” before I had a chance to say anything, she had dragged me down to the mall and into the first clothes shop there. She put clothes against my body, comparing colours to my skin. Half an hour later we walked out of the shop with three bags full of clothes. “Hey Sakura, wear these clothes tomorrow.”

“Uh, sure.” I said walking home.

I think this is one time where I am genuinely upset with the protagonist, Sakura.
