HappyA Poem by AreWeBothCrazyA song about growing up and realizing you can be content with the little things
I met a girl a couple years ago
Just escaped the undertow Rid of the old ways, she's thankful Nothing to her name except A half a pack of cigarettes A lighter, a CD case, and a percocet She had hopes, she had dreams But that first high made her believe That life was meant to be led simply She's a wreck She's a mess She is in over her head But she couldn't ask for anything more She's a foot From the edge You can see it in her smokey breath But she's happy, she's happy That's for sure A few years later she's workin' at the same place That changed her life at 17 in the greatest way When she can't sleep she drives around She's seen every part of time Bottoms up, falling down She had hopes, she had dreams But that first high made her believe That life was meant to be led simply She's a wreck She's a mess She is in over her head But she couldn't ask for anything more She's a foot From the edge You can see it in her smokey breath But she's happy, she's happy That's for sure Start the car, it is dark Adjust her shirt to hide the scars This is the life that she chose Take a hit, this is it She is used to the drips She knows how it goes... © 2010 AreWeBothCrazyAuthor's Note
