The Calling

The Calling

A Poem by Arctic Fox
"

The life of a life-sustainer.

"

I’ve marched to the beat of the drum.

I’ve walked the path of honor.

I’ve run past the bullets and mortar rounds.

I’ve crawled through the dust, the sand, and the mud.

I’ve stood facing the fire and never walked away.

I’ve held my ground and gritted my teeth.

I’ve been the road others feared to tread.

I’ve knocked on Death’s door with souls in my hands.

Death would not have me.

I would not let him have the souls.

I do the grim work many cannot stomach.

I hold the weight of a world on my shoulders.

This is my burden which I have chosen.

This is my path I choose to walk.

This is the life I chose to live.

This is the calling of a Combat Medic.

The tone of this one is Epic, I like the soul of your authorhood, if that makes sense. You just have spirit and verve and it shiens through your words.

i like how you ended it,
gave the poem a twist....
