The first of three sneezes brings you health, Which is after all, the most precious wealth. If you have health, what else could you want? The sickness avoids you while the people don’t. The people who sneeze once and then cease, Need not fear a gale, then let alone a breeze. And yet, health, although needed, can’t suffice, When you are sad and as poor as the church mice.
The second sneeze is said to bring happiness and luck, Lucky are the folks, who after the second one get stuck. Luck comes with happiness and a handful of fortune, With all those things you can’t resist whistling a merry tune. Little place for worry and gloom is in the hearts of those, To whom backs are never shown and doors never close. With fortune and luck there are but few things to lack, Yet there is one, little, that the lucky ones forgot to pack.
Among those ‘lucky ones’, I humbly admit, am myself, And I don’t deny it, I have fortune and I have wealth. Should I not then, since I have luck, be happy as well? Let me, my dear, on account of this problem, a story tell. Once upon a time, there used to be a couple, just like me and you, They liked each other dearly, they were faithful and true. Yet when the time came, she could not be his as you can’t be mine, For the lad was lucky, and he never sneezed the third time.
The sneezes are three, as I’ve stated above, And the third of those sneezes grants people...
